The Proposed Submission of the Local Plan

St Martha Parish Council

Keep Chilworth in the Green Belt?

What’s going on?

Did you know that in its new Local Plan, Guildford Borough Council is proposing to remove Green Belt protection from a number of villages in the Guildford area? This includes ‘insetting’ (i.e. removing from the Green Belt), the village of Chilworth along with the villages of Shalford, Peasmarsh and others. If the Council do that, then there is no protection against development, as development is to be considered ‘approved in principle’. Guildford Borough Council has allotted us 6 weeks to register objections and so members of the public only have until 11.59 pm on Monday 18 July 2016 to send in comments to the Council. What can I do if I am concerned about this proposal?

You can object by contacting the Council by: • email: [email protected] (recommended) • post: Planning Policy (Local Plan consultation), Guildford Borough Council, Millmead House, Millmead, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 4BB • online: GBC website getinvolved.guildford.gov.uk/consult.ti/LPSS2016/consultationHome

The number of objections received is vital, because it is one of the most important factors used when the planning inspectorate review the Local Plan. Everyone can object separately (that includes all your family, and you don’t have to live in the area), and all your objections can count towards the total. Just be sure, if objecting by email, that you use a separate email address for each person and head it ‘Objections to the Guildford Local Plan 2016’ Please be advised that you MUST ALWAYS include your name and address, otherwise GBC will just reject your views.

THERE IS ONLY A SHORT TIME UNTIL THE CLOSE OF THE CONSULTATION PERIOD – SO WRITE NOW IF YOU WANT YOUR VOICE HEARD
