Parish Council Meeting

The meeting was opened at 8.00pm on Monday, 10th December 2007 at Chilworth Infant School.

22.1 Apologies for Absence

None.

22.2 Declaration of Personal and Prejudicial Interest

Cllr Burt declared a personal and prejudicial interest in item 22.4 as owner of the Parish Field.

22.3 Budget for Financial Year 2008/09

The Clerk presented a draft budget for review and approval by Cllrs. After discussion and adjustment of the budget figures the 2008/09 budget was approved.

RESOLVED to retain the 2008/09 precept at the 2007/08 level of £12,508.

22.4 Long Term Lease for the Parish Field

Councillor Burt left the room

Cllr Bunting (Chairman of the Parish Field Committee) reported on the meeting of the Field Committee which was held on 6th November 2007 (minutes will be circulated to Cllrs). Key points were:

  1. Unfortunately it had not proved possible to prepare a draft lease for consideration at this meeting.
  2. Mr Burt's solicitors had waved their usual hourly rate in favour of a fixed rate of £850 which could rise to £1800 if complications arose. N.B. Some provision had been made in the 2008/09 budget to cover legal fees.
  3. Mr Burt's solicitors requested that the Parish Council instruct its own solicitors to take receipt of the draft.

RESOLVED Cllr Bunting was asked to approach the SCAPTC solicitor, Roger Taylor, with a view to him giving initial advice and then representing the Council.

Councillor Burt rejoined the meeting.

22.5 Date of Next Meeting

The next meeting is scheduled to be held on Monday 7th January 2008 at Chilworth Infant School, commencing at 7.15pm.
