Railway improvement work – Level crossing and signalling upgrades at Brook, Burrows, Chilworth and Tangley level crossings

Network Rail have provided an update on their work to renew life expired railway signalling assets and upgrade the level crossings at Brook, Burrows Lane, Chilworth and Tangley with modern and safer technology along the North Downs Line.

Network Rail have revised the delivery of this programme of works. Instead of being finalised in March 2024, work will recommence in September 2024 and finish in October 2025 once our commissioning work has been completed.

When completed, they will have reduced the risk by up to 97% of using each Level Crossing, building a safer and more resilient railway for passengers and railway neighbours.

Throughout the next couple of months, the project team will be engaging with the local authorities leading on traffic management plans for these works to take place. They will share their plans and timeline of upcoming works with stakeholders and local residents in due course.
