Chilworth Rail Crossing Closure - NB CANCELLED

St Martha Parish Council

SEE NEXT POST - THIS WORK HAS BEEN POSTPONED

GWR will be carrying out essential railway work at Chilworth level crossing next month, which may affect your users of Sampleoak Lane.

The level crossing will be closed temporarily to road traffic from 23.00 on Friday 19th to 06.00 on Monday 29 October. A road traffic diversion will be in place on Sampleoak Lane.

The work is critical to maintaining the safe running of the railway and operation of the crossing, and GWR will be replacing signalling equipment, warning lights and the barriers. They will be providing escorted pedestrian access over the railway at the crossing site during the temporary closure.

It is also worth noting, GWR will need to close the railway line from early morning on Saturday 27 to early on Monday 29 October to test newly installed equipment, which will disrupt the train service.

Further information on the train service is available on the GWR website.

The highway authority, Surrey County Council, has published details online regarding the traffic diversion.

GDR have already written to our lineside neighbours to notify them about the work – a copy of the letter and a map showing the highway diversion are attached. Chilworth Level crossing Works 2nd update Final 19 29 October 2018
